Fairfield, California is located in Northern California, near both San Francisco and Sacramento, the state capital. Though surrounded by sparsely settled land, the city has a little over 110,000 residents and is growing fast as are smaller towns that are near larger urban areas. Fairfield is the county seat of Solano County.
Vallejo is the only other city in the county with a population exceeding 100,000 residents. Suisun City is a nearby sister city of Fairfield.
