In fact, many residents have their small boats and yachts moored in various harbors along the Suisun City waterfront. Surprisingly, even though the Suisun Slough is located far inland from the Ocean, a tidal difference of about four feet is usually experienced. New Suisun City real estate developments signify the health of this growing area.
Suisun City properites, though an early gold rush town, began a facelift to its public and private Suisun City real estate in the early 1990s, and now is a very tidy, "ideal home town" for 26,000 residents. Renewal projects renovated the downtown "main street" area, the Town Plaza (summer concerts), the 170-seat Harbor Conservatory Theatre, a 150-berth, modern marina, a nearly mile-long promenade walkway along the waterfront, a renovated old train station now serving Amtrak, and much more.
The official city web site says:
"Suisun City embodies a cross-section of the endlessly attractive California lifestyle. The City's 28,000 residents have easy access to Northern California's two major urban centers ? the San Francisco Bay Area and the Sacramento Capitol region ? as well as the Stockton metro area. Our residents also enjoy a small-town lifestyle and sensibility often associated with communities in the western breadbasket of the Central Valley.
"Suisun City is fast becoming the prosperous waterfront community civic leaders have long-envisioned. Main Street is increasingly vibrant with one-of-a-kind shops and restaurants in historically authentic buildings. Everyday, people are re-discovering Suisun City as a thriving destination for business gatherings, family day-trips, and a singular and relaxing waterfront experience. Come see how we are building the 21st Century future while honoring our history."
